Fit Witch- Introduction

There are very few things in life that I breathe in with every fiber of my being: Biology, Literature, Hedgecraft, and Health & Fitness.

I love Health and Fitness so much that my friends and family often refer to me as their nutritionist. In fact, my husband came to me at the beginning of the year and said "Baby, I want to bulk up. Help me." Him asking me for help regarding his diet and exercise made my heart skip a beat.  I'm not an expert, but I sure do know a heck of a lot about diet and fitness, and I would like to share my knowledge with you.

I have been toying with the idea of starting a Fit Witch series here on the blog. I wasn't sure if this was the right place to share my wisdom, but as I lay awake last night a little voice screamed at me to get with the program. So here I am, writing this post to explain all the in's and out's of this series. I would greatly appreciate your feedback on this idea and future posts. If it is not something you guys are interested in, please let me know and I'll stop before I get too involved. If you have wisdom of your own, pipe up; I'd love to know!

So what is Fit Witch?

Fit Witch will be an ongoing blog series covering health and fitness with a witchy twist. Expect expert knowledge on nutrition, weight loss, exercise, and fitness gear mixed with potions, lotions, spells, and charms. But remember, no potion or spell will do the work for you. If you are serious about getting healthy and toning up, you have to put in the work and commitment. It is going to take lots of discipline and, for most people, a support group. I am here for you; that's the whole point of this series. If I can't help you, I will gladly put you in touch with someone who can or point you in the right direction to find someone.

When will posts be available and how often?

Randomly. I'm not going to set a specific day of the week or month for these posts. I'm not even going to guarantee there will be a post every month. I'm going to let my creativity flow and post when my inner voice tells me too. Being back in school and putting my workouts above everything else has left me with little time to focus on posting here. Just check back often to see if I have added any new content. If you have questions, comments, or topic ideas feel free to send them my way via the comment box or email. If it's a question I feel everyone is probably asking, expect an entire blog post to answer it.

Why start this series?

As I stated above, health and fitness is extremely important to me. My body is a temple, and I will treat it as such. No, I don't count calories, but I do meal plan and do my best to eat right 80% of the time. In our ever expanding world, we have greater access to food, not all of which is good for us. I encourage everything in moderation and within reason. I don't eat like a saint, and I don't expect you to either. Many other health nuts condemn me for eating faux meat and drinking pop (soda). Get over yourself. Some days all I want are brownies and other days all I want is a huge bleu cheese wedge salad. With all the products out there, it can be hard to figure out what you should and shouldn't eat and it can be even harder to portion control. I want to help you learn how to take control of your health and diet.

As a community, I think we get so caught up in our craft that we sometimes forget to truly take care of ourselves. Lets end that today. The best magic you will ever perform is when you are happy and healthy. You may not even know your magic is suffering because to you, your life feels normal. You may not know that sluggish feeling you feel around noon is caused by your mid morning snack or that your unrestful sleep is caused from inactivity earlier in the day. You've gotten used to how your body functions, not even realizing that something larger is going on. I not only want each and everyone of you to get healthy, but I want the magic your perform to be at its best.

So will you join me?
